As a graduate from New Jersey state schools, I value the quality of education provided by these institutions. Raising funds and building all-terrain vehicles as an undergraduate at The College of New Jersey was the first time I felt like I was accomplishing something greater than I had ever imagined. I know how invaluable such experiences are in making great scientists and engineers. In my years as an educator, I have taken this to heart and have worked unceasingly to help students find that feeling.
I am excellent at explaining complex subjects in ways that are easy to understand. I take time to make sure students understand the course material. I empathize with students having difficulty, and work with them to help connect concepts. As a visual learner, I tend to teach with that focus in mind, but I implement many different techniques to accommodate other learning styles as well. I find that it is essential to pepper lessons with activities to keep students active and focused.
Test Prep
I have extensive experience preparing students for exams, and I know the tips and tricks required to ace them. As an active alumna from a private high school and public universities in New Jersey, I know what institutions are looking for and will work with you to create a stellar application package!

Whether it’s fixing a problem or developing a new concept, I love tinkering! I am always thinking outside the box to find quick, robust solutions under tight deadlines. I have several years of grant-funded engineering laboratory experience, and I am familiar with using standard machine shop equipment, having built several road vehicles while attending The College of New Jersey and experimental apparatuses during my tenure as a graduate student.
I have studied diverse energy topics, from designing sustainable commuter vehicles to the “greening” of the ceramics industry. I was the only student at Rutgers to be accepted into two highly-competitive Integrated Graduate Education and Research Traineeships (IGERT), both of which addressed sustainability issues from policy, economic, and engineering standpoints.

This artist went to engineering school! I grew up in a pottery studio with an artistic family and also minored in Medieval and Renaissance Literature, so I straddle the divide between science and art. I value incorporating functionality and beauty in every design.

I am a Certified Instructor for Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). This single-day course is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
